Spain runs two parallel immigration tracks, and its investor and remote-work options have changed significantly in recent years.
Two regimes
Permits flow either through the general immigration regime (Ley de Extranjería) or the faster Entrepreneurs Law (Ley 14/2013), which covers highly qualified professionals, intra-company transfers, entrepreneurs and investors.
Startup Law and digital nomads
The Startup Law (2022) introduced a digital-nomad visa for remote workers serving non-Spanish employers — a notable addition.
The end of the golden visa
Spain ended its investor "golden visa" residency route, so residency-by-property is no longer available; talent, entrepreneur and work routes (and the EU Blue Card) are the way in.
For employers and individuals
Choosing the general regime versus the Entrepreneurs Law affects speed and eligibility. A verified Spanish colleague can pick the track and file it.
